AC Service Cost in Bali 2026: Real Price Guide

If you live in Bali, your AC works hard. Hot days. Salty air near the coast. Dust that rolls in every dry season and settles into every coil and filter you own. The unit needs regular care, and care costs money — so you should know what a fair price looks like before someone's standing in your living room quoting you a number.

The problem usually isn't the price. It's the not-knowing. You call a guy off a roadside flyer, he shows up, and suddenly there's a "special situation" that doubles the bill. Hard to argue when the unit's already half open.

So here's the honest 2026 rundown for Bali and Denpasar. Real Rupiah. No padding, no scare tactics.

Quick answer: A standard AC wash (cuci AC) in Bali runs Rp 65.000–130.000 per unit in 2026 — around Rp 65–85k for a small split, up to ~Rp 130k for an inverter. A freon top-up is Rp 175.000–350.000 (and only worth it if the leak gets fixed). A basic install is about Rp 250.000. Bundle units, agree the price up front, and use someone verified.

AC wash (cuci AC): the service you'll book most

This is the bread and butter, and it's far cheaper than most expats expect. A technician opens the indoor unit, pulls and cleans the filters, washes the evaporator coil, flushes the drain line, and checks the temperature coming out of the vents.

A proper wash takes 30–45 minutes per unit. If someone's in and out in ten, you got a wipe, not a wash.

These are typical Bali ranges — the exact number shifts with your area, the unit's size, and its condition. Booking several units at once? Most masters drop the per-unit rate, so a four-AC villa lands well below full price on each one. Always ask. The discount is real, but it's rarely offered unless you bring it up. Many vendors also throw in a 30-day garansi kerja (work guarantee), so if it drips or stops cooling within the month, they come back.

Pro tip: Ask for a *cuci besar* (deep clean) if the unit smells musty or drips onto the floor. It costs a bit more, but a musty AC is mold — and mold is what you're breathing all night. A regular wipe won't touch it.

What a proper wash should include

• Filters removed, washed, and dried — not just dusted
• Evaporator coil foamed and rinsed
• Drain line flushed so it doesn't clog and leak later
• Outdoor unit checked and rinsed if reachable
• Temperature tested before and after, so you can see the difference

Skip the drain flush and you'll be calling someone back in a month about water running down your wall. Ask for it.

Freon refill and top-up

Freon — the refrigerant — is what actually makes the air cold. If your AC runs but blows warm or only mildly cool, low refrigerant is a common cause. Common, but not the whole story, and we'll get to why.

Here's the part that saves you money. A sealed AC doesn't "use up" freon the way a car burns petrol. If it's low, the gas escaped somewhere — a flare fitting, a corroded coil, a bad weld. Refill without finding and fixing that leak and you'll be cold for a month or two, then warm again, then paying for another refill.

Three things move the price more than anything else: your location, the unit type, and who you call.

• A master in Canggu or Seminyak may quote higher than one in Tabanan or inland Ubud — demand and traffic both factor in.
• Inverter and premium-brand units (Daikin, Mitsubishi) take more time and care, so they cost a touch more to service.
• And honestly, a stranger off a flyer might quote one thing on the phone and charge another once they're inside your house.

That last one is the real headache. You don't know if the person's qualified, you've already let them in, and the price changed.

Install, uninstall, and move

Buying a new split unit, or moving one to a new room? Charged separately from the price of the AC itself, the labour usually runs:
